Key terminology
The vocabulary the rest of this guide assumes.
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Install Card | A reusable template for a specific deliverable. Contains Tasks, a Bill of Materials, and labor hours. The building block of every estimate. |
| Task | A labor line item within an Install Card. Defines who does the work, how long it takes, and includes a checklist. Shown as Ticket for ConnectWise orgs and Project Task for HaloPSA orgs. |
| Resource | A billable role (e.g. Lead Technician). Has a Burden Rate (internal cost) and Billable Rate (what you charge). |
| Phase | A WBS grouping for delivery (e.g. Staging, Physical Install). Tasks are assigned to phases to organize the work plan. Shown as Milestone for HaloPSA orgs. |
| Phase Set | A named collection of Phases (e.g. "Security Install", "MSP Onboarding") for a particular kind of project. Assign a set to a project and its Deliver/WBS view shows only that set's phases. Optional — leave a project unassigned to show all phases. |
| Scoping Tag | A set of questions the AI asks during the scoping interview. Linked to Install Cards to drive automated card selection. |
| Selection Rule | Logic attached to an Install Card (e.g. "If ceiling type = concrete → add 2 extra hours"). Automates card selection based on interview answers. |
| SOW | Scope of Work — an AI-generated client-facing document describing the project deliverables in narrative form. |
| Financial Snapshot | Unit prices locked at quote time to protect margins from catalog price changes. |
| Discovery Mode | Activated when the AI encounters a requirement with no matching card in your library. The AI interviews you to capture the new service and learns from it automatically. |
