Financial snapshots

Why your estimate does not move when the catalog does — and how to refresh it deliberately when you want it to.

When a card is added to a project, the unit price and unit cost of every product in its Bill of Materials are locked at that moment. This protects your estimate from catalog price changes after quoting.

The Materials tab shows a warning if any snapshotted price has drifted from the current catalog — click Update All to refresh.

Note

The same principle applies to the card itself, not just its prices. A card added to a project carries a frozen copy of the template as it existed that day. Editing the master card later never rewrites a quote you already sent — which is the behavior you want, even though it means an old project can look out of date next to your current library.
