DarkBird speaks MCP
Your Install Card library, your projects, and what DarkBird has worked out about your estimating accuracy are reachable from any MCP client — including Claude — over an authenticated, org-scoped connection. No scraping, no browser automation.
Stack role
An open interface to your own estimating data. The same org-scoped API key powers a REST API at /api/v1 and an MCP endpoint at /api/mcp, both scoped to a single organization and enforced server-side.
What the integration does
Eight tools over your estimating data
List and create projects, list the cards on a project, list and create Install Cards, read everything DarkBird is currently suggesting, see how your estimates have been performing against reality, and pull your own operating rules — the core objects and the intelligence on top of them, exposed as MCP tools.
Read-only where it counts
An agent can read proposals, accuracy and rules. It cannot accept a suggestion that rewrites a master Install Card — that stays with a signed-in Owner or Admin. Your estimating templates cannot be changed by an unattended script.
Org-scoped API keys
Authentication is a bearer API key resolved to a single organization on the server. Every call is scoped to that org, with no cross-tenant reach.
Stateless Streamable HTTP
The endpoint implements the MCP Streamable HTTP transport with no server-side session state, so any compliant client that can set an Authorization header can connect.
A REST API on the same service layer
The /api/v1 endpoints for projects and Install Cards run on the same services the web app uses, so the API and the UI cannot drift apart.
How it works
Generate an API key
Create an org-scoped key in Settings. It authenticates both the REST API and the MCP endpoint.
Point your client at the endpoint
Configure your MCP client with https://darkbird.app/api/mcp and send Authorization: Bearer <your-key>. DarkBird does not use OAuth for this surface.
Work with your data
Ask your client to list projects, inspect a project's cards, or create an Install Card — it calls DarkBird directly.
Frequently asked questions
Which clients work?
Any client that speaks the MCP Streamable HTTP transport and lets you set a custom header. Claude is the common case, but nothing about the endpoint is Claude-specific.
Is this included in my plan?
API and MCP access is a Pro feature. Trial organizations have full Pro access for 45 days, so you can evaluate it before deciding.
Can it reach other organizations' data?
No. The API key resolves to exactly one organization server-side and every request is scoped to it. The same multi-tenant isolation that governs the web app governs the API.
Does it use OAuth?
No. Authentication on this surface is the API key header and nothing else.
Why does this matter more than an AI chat box?
A chat box keeps your data inside one vendor's screen. An MCP endpoint makes your labor library addressable by whatever tools you already use. It also means the estimating data is yours to work with directly rather than something you have to log in to read. Exposing a data model this way requires having one underneath — Install Cards, calibration history, accuracy — which is why it is not a common feature in this category.
